| If you have questions message Moe the Maneater or Fire CouchI am going to assume that we all have some experience with RPGs, so I will not get into the ultra basic crap of what RPGs are. This post may however sound a little bit condescending to old veterans, but please bear with me and take no offense at anything I say here. I say it only to make the in game experience for everyone better. When playing in an online RPG, it may be necessary to divulge information to a player in a way that lets others know what is going on when they as a character would have no way of knowing this information. For example, Fred the Fighter and Mary the Mage are in a dungeon and each go to different rooms to seek their fortunes. As they walk in, the doors to their respective rooms slam shut cutting off any sound from outside. Mary the Mage falls into a pit that closes over with a grating and the fountain in the room starts to flood. Fred the Fighter meanwhile finds a lever on the wall that says "Flood Gate". Fred the Fighter naturally assumes this means that if he throws the switch it will flood the room he is in, so he ignores it. Mary the Mage is close to breathing her last, but there is no way that Fred can know this so his controlling player should stick with his original decision. Fred's player should also not randomly "decide" to go for a stroll and "happen" to run across Mary in danger. If he finds nothing else in the room, it would be logical of course to then see if Mary is doing OK, but it may be too late by then. If you want a character to take an action, there should be a good reason for which to do so. Also, please do not offer suggestions for actions if there is no way that your character could know the situation that another player is in. Not a big deal if these things crop up once in a while, the GMs can reverse actions that need to be, but we do not want to constantly be reminding players that they would not be able to do this or they would not know about that. Feel free to ask in game or in private messages if you are not sure if your character has certain information or can take a specific action. | |

| A few more you might already know, but just in case...
No 'superman' type characters. You are not invincible. You cannot go around killing everything or doing things that frankly just aren't possible. An admin will notify you if you are doing this, and we will expect you to fix it as soon as possible.
You have a PC. It's possible that you will also have an NPC in your control. There are no other characters you can control. If you are looking for dialogue with an NPC, message the admin of the game and they will help you (time permitting). This rule exludes common things such as asking for ale and the barkeep giving it to you, ordering food and having the barmaid deliver... That's fine.
Finally, you cannot assume the results of your actions. For instance you can swing your sword at someone, but you cannot assume you hit (no matter how good you think you are). Say you wanted some kind of crazy combo move where you hit guy1, kick guy2, and attempt to decapitate guy 3... You're welcome to post what you intend to do, but not what actually happens. (example: "My Character tries to his guy1, kick guy 2, and decapitate guy 3" is okay, but "My character hits guy1, kicks guy2, and decapitates guy3" is not.)

| Should your post violate any of these rules, an admin will contact you asking you to correct it. If you are unable or unwilling to correct your post, it will be corrected for you by the admin shortly before the next update. | |

| Every action taken by one's character will likely have re-actions by others around you. If you come across a widow and her 3 children in the road and choose to rob and murder them, you would possibly get away with it. Once, maybe twice or even a third time...IF you are alone or with people who share the same values. BUT do not be surprised in the least when you awaken one morning surrounded by thirty armed guards waiting to take you to the gallows. Think your actions through and try to be sensible. If you are sent to rescue a princess from a tower would it be logical in the game to murder her in her sleep the next day? | |

| On your turn (unless otherwise stated by whoever is running the game) you may make ONE action. Only one. Please read that again.
What defines an action? Anything that your character would physically or mentally exert themselves to do. Examples include but are not limited to: Moving from point A to point B. Making an attack. Digging a hole. Searching 1 room. Reading a section of book. Investigating the area in search of clues. The list goes on.
If you want to do more than just one single physical action on your turn, there is good news; you can also do one or more non-actions. Non actions are anything that do not take any realy physical effort by your characer. For example, talking, thinking, picking your nose, winking, looking around, etc.

| TIP: While the players should not be able to dictate that they find certain things or what NPCs say (unless otherwise stated); you can of course lead the Game Master down your path by indicating what you're looking for. Adding something along the lines of "Looking around the room while I..." allows you an opportunity to discover things.
For instance, if you're going down the river in a boat; sure you're going to be rowing and maybe talking to whoever is in the boat with you, logically you could look at the tree tops or under the surface of the water as you do so (notice that both of those indicated "where" you're looking). Maybe something will be there that you might otherwise have overlooked. Obviously you can't do this on a post where your character is doing something very involved; like if you're performing open heart surgery you should avoid looking around the operating room.
