Shipwreck Day 2 - Main Beach

A chilling scream wakes up the camp, bringing all back to the reality that they are not safe at home but stranded. The scream is laden with anguish and misery. It's the kind of scream that makes you want to scream right along.

The sky is still dark; but it is not the moonlit sky of the night. It is the starless darkness of the pre-dawn. A mild glow can be seen on the horizon. The fire is substantially smaller than it was the night before, but is still maintained. Eddie stands with his back to the fire, a glowing ember at the end of the stick in his hand. He looks in the direction of the scream.

Brandon turns from his watch at the edge of the sea, looking in the direction of the screams. But he can't make anything out from this distance. All he is certain of is that it comes from within their camp.

Others are stepping out of their shelters, the captains men and a few of the more brave survivors. Others remain abed, too frightened to move; trying to tell themselves that this wasn't happening.

The scream comes again, this time it is tangible. "Nooooooo," comes the scream, a young lady by the sound of it. Her cries of defiance are soon choked up by sobbing. The crash of the waves and crack of the fire are all that can be heard save for her crying.


[OOC: Unless your name was mentioned, you were asleep in a shelter. For those of you on watch, nothing happened. A few sounds in the night, like animals passing; but that's about it.

Also, 61 people attended thje party (this includes crew, caterers, strippers, the band, and partiers) 2 swept overboard on the first night, another lost in the yacht. 58 remain.]

Eddie being the bad ass he is rushes towards the scream without a second thought holding the makeshift torch in front of him getting as much illumination as he can. "Fuck fuck fuck. I really should not have drank so much last night." He thought to himself as he ran. Despite falling asleep he was still slightly buzzed but his adrenaline was pumping enough that he managed to ignore the headache and nausea that accompanied his debauchery the night before. He continues to sprint until he find the source of the screaming.

In his dreams the screams came from a bird, one that had just landed pleasantly on his shoulders and had begun to whisper to him the secret of happiness. Before the bird could whisper any true details it's whispers turned into a loud wailing that startled him awake.

The birds scream still echoed in the real world, followed by utter silence. Tony found his pulse quickened and his body covered in a cold sweat; his breath came fast and he could feel his heart beating through his chest. He sat up and tried to laugh off the nightmare.

Then the scream came again. He tried to convince himself that he had imagined it, but when people started running past his shelter in the direction of the screams he got slowly to his feet. His head was pounding with a wine headache.

"What is it?" came a feminine voice from beside him, a friend of a friend of Rick's.

"I don't know, Lizzy;" he said. "I'll go find out."

He stepped into the sand on legs still wobbly with drink and moved towards the sound even as another survivor ran past him. The scream sounded again.

Looking at the sunrise Brandon hears the scream. Keeping calm he turns to the direction of the scream. Seeing it is coming from camp he gets up dusts himself off and runs in direction of the scream.

Felicia had been dreaming about someone walking into her tent, and she woke with a start at the sound of footsteps. To her surprise it Sarah, walking back from a pee in the woods. She sighed, relieved. Fe smiled and was about to turn over and good back to sleep when a loud scream echoed from across their campsite. Fe froze in her bed, the blankets wrapped around her and she and Sarah exchanged a look of terror. Who was screaming? And what in the sam hell was being done to the poor woman? Afraid of sticking her head, Sarah looked at Fe. Fe rolled her eyes and poked her head out of the tent. It was hard to see much in the dark, but she could see a few outlines of men running in the direction of the scream. She wanted to help, but knew she wouldn't be of much use, so she pulled back in and told Sarah what she saw, which was basically nothing. But the screaming continued... It sent a chill down her spine, and reminded her all too well of what she went through when her ex came home in a drunken rage...

Eddie was the first to reach the woman; a few others from Ron's crew right behind him; followed by Brandon and a few castaways.

It was dark and the flickering light from the fire was distant. A young lady lay atop the body of a young man; her body wracked with sobs, his remained still. Someone stepped forward, took the young woman by the hand and helper her to her feet. She continues to cry.

On the floor of the shelter was the dead man, a bloody gash stretched across his throat from ear to ear. People were walking all around the shelter; most of them shocked at the gory display. No one can quite make out body in the low light.

Someone shines a LED flashlight on the body, starting at the chest and stopping briefly on the gash in his throat.

"Who is it?" someone asks.

The light moves to his face.

"Holy shit," says Leon; a senior member of Captain Ron's crew.

Tony, who has stumbled into the scene just as the light shines on the dead man's face blurts out what everyone else has already noted. "It's Rick."

"Oh shit. Leon go get my dad, He needs to see this." Eddie was shocked not suspecting to see a dead body. At most he was expecting forsome dude to be beating the chicks ass but not rick laying here in a bloody pool. Someone on this island obviously had no problems killing. Whether it was the shadowy figure's or one of there own he wasn't sure but he planned to find out. He kneels down stabbing his torch into the sand and tilts the corpses head up to get a better view of the gash. checking to see if the cut was clean or rugged as well to seeing if the blood was dried or not. After that he checks the hands for any defensive wounds. Then he checks the rest of his body for any other wounds. then checks his pockets. Eddie then stands and tells the rest of the people standing around the body his finds.

Brandon doesn't display shock or fear. Instead he stays calm and collected. Peering at the neck wound, Brandon realizes that it is a good clean cut.

Only one person that he knows has the capabilities and the tools to do this. His partner from the old days Reggie. Brandon turns to go find his friend.

(OK so I just noticed this but there are two reggies one from the band and another is an npc I wrote in on the second post who is very talented with a pocket knife.)

Jason was out swimming in the ocean in the early morning to help wake himself up when he heard the screams. At first it didn't register in his mind but when the second scream came he shot out of the water and ran for who ever it was. When he got to were he heard the screams there were people already there and all he saw was another guy on top of another. It didn't look like they were fighting but everyone else was in a state of shock. When the man stood up Jason saw why, Rick was laying there dead. His friend had a long gash in his throat. Jason look around thinking it could be anyone of these people that had killed Rick.

Tony stood there in shock, his face going completely pale and his mouth hanging open. His cousin was dead. But how? Who did this and why?

The first question was answered at a glance, his throat had been cut open. The other questions were not so simple. Rick had never been the easiest guy to get along with, but he didn't think anyone wanted him dead. He was wrong about that, obviously.

"Shit," Tony muttered after a long period of not speaking. The words and movements of the others around him were a blue, a hum of intangibles. He paid them no heed, he was battling between several emotions; shock, confusion, grief, and suspicion.

He felt something wet hit his cheeks and realized that he was crying. He walked away from the scene towards his shelter where Lizzie was waiting for him.

"Is everything alright?" she asked.

"No," he told her bluntly; "Rick is dead."

It had been a rough night for Chryssa, crammed in with strangers under a makeshift roof. The silhouettes she’d seen hidden amidst the trees the day before had shaken her more than she felt it ought have, causing a light, troubled sleep. And then she’d heard those screams along with everyone else and had ventured tentatively out of her shelter to find out what the disturbance was.

She had the bad luck to be in earshot of Rick’s cousin Tony as he came back from further down the beach and gave the news to some other girl; Rick was dead.

With everything that had happened in the short time since she’d gotten on that goddamn boat, the last bricks of Chryssa’s mental wall of bitchery were pulverized by a wrecking ball of confusion and horror. She stumbled on the sand towards Tony in a daze.

“Wh-What did you s-say?” she asked him, her voice cracking. She was suddenly clawing at his shirt, a frantic look in her eyes. “What the fuck did you just say?!?”

She didn’t pause to hear any answer, instead breaking into a mad dash for the spot up ahead where the scream had originated from and panting to herself, “It’s someone else, it’s someone else, it’s someone else, it’s someone else…”

[OOC: Cool, now that you've noticed there are two Reggies, have you noticed that there is only one Reggie?]


Normally Leon and Eddie tended to battle rank in the crew, Leon being second in command and Eddie being the Captain's son; but given the gravity of the situation Leon simply nodded this time and ran to find the Captain. Captain Ron wasn't hard to find, he'd already been making his way over to the shelter to find out what was going on. Getting to him, however; proved far more difficult.

By this point nearly everyone in the camp was up and moving around, some stumbling around in uncertainty, others running either to or from Rick's body. People were screaming and crying, but crying more than screaming. Leon called the Captain the moment he saw him, but it was near impossible to hear him over the crowd; it would have to wait until he reached his side.

Brandon presses through the growing crowd in search of his partner Reggie. Much like Leon, Brandon finds the confusion of the camp to be somewhat disorienting. The camp is small, but even still the fifty or so people on the beach seem more like a few hundred.

Soon enough he finds his old partner Reggie sitting on an overturned log facing the ocean, his head is down and he is rubbing the sleep from his eyes. [PM me]

Jason, dripping wet from the ocean shivered when a breeze his him. The sun was almost risen but there had been no warmth from it yet. He finds himself thinking about the times he and Rick had growing up together. They'd been friends since they were eight years old, and had rarely been apart. And now Rick was dead.

He wondered how Rick's parents were going to deal with the news. Would they blame him? They always seemed to blame him when they were in trouble. The yacht party had, in fact, been Jason's idea. So in a way he played a hand in Rick's death.

"Dead?" Lizzie asked of Tony. He nodded. She started crying. Rock's ex, Chryssa ran up to him then in shock, asking what he said and clawing at his shirt. Before he could reply she was running up the beach toward Rick's body.

He turned back to Lizzie, she'd been one of the bar whores that Rick had messed around with from time to time. To his knowledge, Tony didn't think there had ever been any real connection but she screamed and sobbed as much as any of the others who actually knew the man. She threw herself into Tony's arms, her face wet from tears and snot and the other unpleasantries that come with mourning.

Chryssa eventually reached Rick's body. There was a crowd around the shelter and she had to shove her way through to reach him, but she did reach him. His face was blue and the expression of terror and anguish was so unlike him that it almost looked like someone else, but still... it was unmistakably Rick. Blue faced Rick with a bloody throat.

The Captain arrives then and sees the body and shakes his head. He doesn't seem overly shocked by Rick's death. "Call everyone to a meeting," he says to Leon and Eddie, his nearest crewmen. "We need to address the group before a blind panic overtakes them. Get them to the main fire immediately."

Captain Ron walks back toward the main fire while Eddie and Leon start calling everyone to the meeting. Other crewmen hear and take up the call, escorting everyone they can to the fire, saying that it's urgent.



[OOC: so with your post you should wrap up the 'oh shit, he's dead' moment and do whatever until the meeting. Your post ends with your character arriving at the fireside.]

Fe had finally ditched the blonde wig to have her natural hair show. After the men ran to find what the commotion was about, and the screaming subsides, both Fe and her friend Sarah emerge from their tent to look around. People's faces were worried, and looked grave as if what had happen last night was a foresight into what was to come. Both girls decided that a shower was necessary before they had to do.. Well, whatever it was they had to do. Salt water was the next best thing right? Well, the stripped down to their bikini's and went for a short swim in the ocean, and came out feeling a little bit more refreshed, until Sarah points the fact that a few men from Captain Ron's crew were walking back and knocking on tents alerting the others to something. Fe and Sarah dash back to their tent before the crewmen reach them, Fe notices Eddie coming to talk to her.

She side steps him, and grabs his forearm gently. "Eddie, what's going on? What happened over there?" she nodded her head in the direction of where all the screaming and crying was. Her eyes were wide with worry. Felicia was dripping, and she began to wring out her hair while she stands and talks to Eddie.

Jason notices the lack of surprise form the captain when he sees rick dead. Jason starts to suspect the dear old captain, If Jason finds out who did it maybe Ricks parent will be able to forgive him for inadvertently getting Rick killed. "I am going to kill the fucker who did this" he murmurs under his breath as he walks toward the main fire were everyone else is getting corralled.

Looking down at the still awakening Reggie, Brandon says "We need to talk. Follow me." Brandon walks out of ear shot of anyone else and his partner follows.

"What do you want?" Reggie asked when Brandon stopped.

"I know you always have a pocketknife on you. Someone was murdered last night and I need to know that it wasn't you who did it." sighing Brandon whispers, "and if you did. I need to know right now so we can work on a story as your alibi."

"Someone was murdered? Just someone? The way I heard it, a very important someone was murdered. And no, it wasn't me. I got no reason to kill anyone out here," Reggie said.

Shaking his head Brandon says, "I know. Its just the way the cut was made. It reminds me of the days we were in the gang. Clean, precise and with just the right of fear inducing gruesomeness." Then smiling, "I just remembered how good you were with that knife."

"Yeah," Reggie says gruffly, not smiling in return. "Yeah, we were good at what we did."

"Remember we got each others back. Partners for life." Then putting his hand out for a fist bump he waits for Reggie to answer.

After only a slight hesitation, Reggie hammers his fist into Brandon's. "I'm still not cool with you thinking I'd kill someone for no damn reason. I'm cold, not crazy."

He shakes his head and looks Brandon in the eye. "I'm going to go listen to whatever Captain Ron has to say now," Reggie says, turning around and walking back to the beach.

Brandon, while walking back with Reggie, shakes his head thinking, "Man this type of stuff use to just roll right off him."

Tony walked to the main fire in a zombie state, his eyes red and his heart heavy. He was mostly aware of everything around him, but when the crewman told him to go to the fire he agreed to do so.

Hopefully the Captain would announce that he knew who killed his cousin and they could make the son of a bitch pay.

Once everyone had arrived, the captain cleared his throat and asked for their full attention.

"You've all heard by now, I am sure; that Mr. Rick Hetley has died. For those of you who were his friends or family, you have my deepest condolences. If we could please, I'd like to have a moment of silence for Rick."

The silence was heavy, only the crash of the waves and crack of the fire could be heard.

“Rick’s death is tragic and untimely, however. We need to remember that we are in a survival situation. We need to keep this fire going, we need to remain on the lookout for rescue. We need to collect more wood for the fire, and we need to figure out what else is on this island. And, we will need to bury Rick.”

Captain Ron looks the group over. “Are there volunteers for any of these tasks?”

While moving people towards the fire Fe touches Eddies forearm he turns toward her quickly, his nerves where still on edge. "Some one slit Rick's throat no one has any idea who did it." Eddie says hastily. "Where getting ready for another speech by my dad come on.", He nods towards the fire and walk towards it, "Come on.". After listening to his father he offers to look around the island with any one else that wanted to. He turns to Fe. "You wanna help me check out this island?" He says with a smile. His nerves had calmed drastically.
He walks over to the log that he and Fe had originally met and picked up his backpack throwing it over his shoulder after pulling out his Magnum and putting it in his front pocket making sure it's loaded and on safety. He waits on the edge of the woods for anyone else that wants to help him search the island.

When Eddie told her what happened to Rick, she quickly pulled on some clothes and shoes and walked over to the fire with him. Fe was stunned into silence over what had happened, she could barely even reply to Eddie when he was ushering her to where the captain was speaking. As he spoke, the realization of Rick's death finally sunk in and sent a chill up her spine. She looked over at Eddie after his father was done speaking, and smiles brightly at the idea of an adventure with him. "Sure! I'd love to go exploring with you." she nods, "Oh! Let me go back to my tent and grab my bag first." she dashes off as Eddie heads over to the log where they both had a good long talk. After she retrieves her bag from her tent, she heads over to Eddie and stands beside him. "Ready to go, oh fearless leader." she winked at him, teasing.

Tony is still grief-stricken but determined not to appear weak. Vulnerability is a feeling that he's never been comfortable with. He used to cry a lot as a kid, the others made fun of him because he was slow. He has a speech impediment when he was young and people picked on him about, bullied him around. His parents sent him to speech classes and eventually he was able to properly pronounce his R's, but it took some work and sometimes he found himself slipping up.

When the captain has finished his speech, Anthony Hetley has only one thing in mind. "Rick deserves to be buried," he says, "I will dig his gwave." He turns away immediately and walks off, hoping no one noticed his rhotacism.

He searches through the supplies retrieved from the yacht in search of a shovel or something that can be used as one.

Two other groups are forming to explore along the beach to the East and West, but a lot of people stay behind on the beach.

Rick's half-brother Johnny and some distant cousin help to carry the body into the shade, laying palms across it to keep the body as cool as possible. It wouldn't do to have Rick stinking up the area.

Meanwhile Tony finds a large flat rock that will have to serve as a shovel. It would be hard work, but Tony was up to the task given his history of strenuous workouts.

Brandon is tired from all the commotion of the past day. He has not gotten any sleep since the start of this ordeal.

He makes his ways to the palm tree for a much needed rest.

Captain Ron's second in command, Leon; spots Brandon lying in the shade of a palm. He shakes his head and lets out a short frustrated laugh. What a fucking idiot, he thinks as he walks over to the Captain's mots recent hire. He nudges Brandon mostly gently with his shoe.

"What the hell do you think you're doing?" Leon asks, his brit accent coming on especially thick. "There is too much to be done for napping."


[OOC: You're seriously making me consider including a word minimum. I don't want to do that because I find it so restrictive, but I fear that if I don't you'll just keep posting at a third grade reading level like this.]

I can't handle this shit Jason thinks to himself. I need to clear my head and get away from everyone else maybe then I can think of a way to deal with this. Thinking this he heads off along the beach to find a calm place to sit down.

Tony continues to dig a hole in the sand, Rick's half brother Johnny joining in. In a few hours they have the hole waist deep, an appropriate depth for a grave. All they need to do now is widen the hole out enough to fit the body inside. As the sun rises higher into the sky it becomes hotter and hotter on the island and both Tony and Johnny are parched.

"We should take a break," Jonny says; "before we die under the sun out here."







Jason sits comfortably under the shade of a tree away from the drama of the rest of the camp. He jumps a little when he hears something behind him and turns to see a short naked man with dark skin standing behind him with a large bone fashioned as a club in his hand. Jason doesn't have time to react before the man smacks him fiercely in the head with his club. Then everything goes dark.
