Contemporary: Shipwreck (OPEN - IN PLAY - SEEKING MORE PLAYERS)

Rick Hetley is a single man in his late twenties. He just won the lottery. He took a payout of 14.8 million dollars.

Today he celebrates, buying a private yacht and throwing a big party out in the ocean. He has hired a man to sail the yacht and his small crew. The catered party features five kegs and close to one hundred bottles of liquor, twenty bottles of wine, and plenty of non-alcoholic drinks for mixing. Rick has invited thirty-five people to the party, including the cashier who sold him the winning lottery ticket.

The plan is to sail into open waters, spend most of the night out at sea, and then sail home in the late hours of the night.

But something happens that night, a storm that knocks them off course and a mysterious island that becomes their home. The survivors work to signal for rescue and try to stay alive long enough to be rescued. But staying alive isn’t as easy as it would seem. Something is on this island and it is hungry…



Looking for people to join a modern setting shipwreck setting. You start out in a private yacht partying when a violent storm shakes things up. All characters must be pre-approved. No need for stats, just a brief description of your character will suffice (name, general appearance, reason for being at the party). Post interest in joining and/or questions about joining in here.

You can be almost any type of character you want to be. The only two exceptions are below.




Characters you cannot be (and brief descriptions of them)

Rick Hetley: Rick turned 27 years old and just won the lottery. Rick can be hot tempered and/or arrogant at times, but is mostly a good guy who can definately be charming when he needs to be. He a good looking guy in good shape and has a tendency to get whatever girl he's after; but he's a bit of a womanizer. He has plenty of friends, but he's made a few enemies along the way as well. If only he knew who all of those enemies were...

Ron Carson: Ron is an older man in his late forties who was hired to captain the yacht for the night. Ron's hair is short and neat and his beard is well groomed, both are a jet black. He has crows feet at the corners of his eyes and he has a bit of a pot belly, but is otherwise in good health. He's easy going enough but relatively quiet.

Updates 2x a week, Late Sunday night (practically Mon. morning) and Late Wednesday night (practically Thurs.)

Post here if you're interested in joining. Please include a few character details. Doesn't have to be anything concrete, and you're welcome to change whatever before the game actually starts.

Can you reveal any more about the setting? Will it be more of a realistic survival game or are the shipwrecked PCs going to find themselves thrown into some weird, Lost-like situation?

Without giving out too many details (and thus ruining the surprise) it will be a survival game with some weird shit.

I do have an interest in realistic survival stuff (theoretically I can totally build a shelter and identify plants and catch fish and small game and survive in the wilderness indefinitely in the event of civilization collapsing as long as it it's as easy as it looks on the Discovery channel and also I don't lose my glasses and Jesus spontaneously cures me of diabetes) though modern characters are just...boring to me, I don't know why.

I don't know, maybe write up a starting post like you did with Grey Lake and it might inspire people to join.

The cool thing about this is (and I suppose it's almost a detriment for you, mizal) that you don't have to do any real research for your character. You're just someone who in some way knows Mike Hetley, a man who just won the lottery. You're there for a party (unless your character has some alterior motives).

Sorry this really is not my cup of tea. I am into Sci-fi, fantasy and real world, but the whole stranded on deserted island thing is just not my thing.

I think you guys are confusing this sign up thread for the i'm not interested thread.

But it will have plenty of sci-fi/fantasy elements, it's simply not in the distant past or distant future or alternate world.

Kick ass, you're in. Don't forget as soon as you're in international waters there are no rules. (actually, you'll probably see that exact wording in the game itself).

Is it too late to join this? If not, I'm an undercover cop posing as a partygoer in order to investigate allegations of some less-than-savory objects that our millionare friend spent his money on. Because of my policing skills, hopefully I can do a bit better when trying to investigate something on the island.

It's not hard to write more people in once the game's under way, so if you're reading this after the game has started, post in here if you're interested in joining.

This is probably the easiest one to play since you don't have to do much character work (unless you want to).

rest assured, this is far more than a survival game. weird shit will go down.

Description: Tony is Rich's cousin. He is a muscled jock-type and in general he's kind of an asshole. You know how a lot of people will say "he's not so bad once you get to know him" about a lot of people... They don't say that about Tony. He's just a dick. Tony bullies people, always beleives he is right, assumes everyone is in to him, and considers pretty much anyone who is not at the same physical level as him as weak and/or stupid. (though he's not too bright himself.)

She’s unstable, brash, opinionated, whiny and generally easily confused with a number of other girls with spray-on tans, skimpy, expensive clothes and a sense of entitlement anyone might know/know of. This is to her advantage, as she’s out to get revenge on Rick. An on/off girlfriend of his, she found herself ‘off’ shortly before he won the jackpot and now wants what she considers her fair share. If that bastard won’t give her what she wants, she’ll take it any way she can. After all, she’s not gonna get any younger.

Piss tils? that's just gross, but you're right, you never know when you'll need them.

You're character is very close to being approved. Very close. You need some sort of connection that would put you on the yacht. If you barely know him, he probably wouldn't invite you. So either know him better (fill in why... maybe worked with him at one of his many jobs (feel free to make something up)... maybe you're a bartender hired to work on the ship (and thus don't really know him at all)... Maybe you're a family member (though we already have two of those, and we don't want everyone related to the guy.)) Your call dude, just get him on board.
